
Alan Bliss joined the partnership of The Practice in September 2009 following the merger of his business. Alan has extensive knowledge with more than 23 years in the industry and is considered an esteemed member within the accounting profession. Prior to joining the team at The Practice, Alan commenced his accounting career with KG Bliss & Associates (later changing its name to Bliss Accountants) in 1984 and two years later became a partner of the business. Since its formation Bliss Accountants Pty Ltd of Melbourne has been at the forefront of accountancy to provide clients with broad and relevant services. Bliss Accountants had maintained a number of client relationships that have been with the firm for well over 30 and a number over 35 years who have now followed Alan into The Practice as he continues to work on developing long term trusting relationships. Alan provides services in taxation (including both income and GST), structure, financing, cash flows, Fringe Benefits tax, salary packaging, and general business knowledge.
Alan has an extensive inventory of qualifications including a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University. Alan is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a registered company auditor and a registered tax agent. His professional accounting profile also includes extensive service with CPA Australia including, being an inaugural member of National Tax Practice Committee, a member of NEMAC, member of the Public Accountants Committee and Chairman in 1997/98. In 1999, he became a Victorian Divisional Councilor, and from February 2003 to October 2004 saw Alan as the Director of CPA Australia. In April 2000 he became Vice President (Victorian Executive of Divisional Council) April 2003 Alan was Deputy President, and followed by being the 50th President of the Victorian Division of CPA Australia in 2004/05.
In addition Alan has continued to play an ongoing role within CPA Australia and continues on a number of committees developing the principles that are taking CPA’s into the future. He is an acknowledged leader within CPA receiving the Charles Holmes (Presidents) Medal in 2004 and the Henry Fox Award in 2004.
Through his business he has continually evolved to meet the needs of clients in today's rapidly changing business environment. Alan Bliss regards our business strategy to be founded on engagement with our people, clients and communities to help them achieve their potential through compliance with our mission statement. Alan is an active Rotarian being awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship from his club following terms as President an ongoing role as Treasurer and a period as District 9800 Treasurer.
